School of Sports, Music and Fine Arts
About the School
The School of Sports, Music and Fine Arts as provided under the Chalimbana University Structure has three departments namely; Department of Music, Department of Physical Education and Sports, Department of Performing Arts and Department of Fine Arts. Government has prioritized Sports, Music, Performing and Fine Arts in the country for the development of a healthy nation as provided for in the Seventh National Development Plan (2017).
The Zambia Education Curriculum Framework (ZECF, 2013) emphasises on the two- tier system of academic and vocational pathways. This development requires that teacher training institutions in Zambia offer Sports, Music, Performing and Fine Arts in their curricula as stand-alone programmes. Therefore, it was important to create a separate school to teach and promote Sports, Music, Performing and Fine Arts for social and economic development. This responsibility is covered in the University’s Strategic Plan of 2018 – 2022.
