About the School

The Zambian government has prioritized Vocational and Practical Skills subjects in the country as outlined in the Seventh National Development Plan (2017). These developments required that training institutions in Zambia offer Design and Technology, Home Economics and Hospitality and Tourism Management in their curricula. This paradigm has been necessitated by the change of philosophy of the subject as envisioned by government through the national policy on education (MOE, 1996) and the Vision 2030.
The school offers practical courses which mostly includes hands on activities in all its programmes of study. Apart from offering academic programmes, the school also offers community services of different forms to communities surrounding the university. By its nature, the school also better up student’s living standards by providing solutions to challenges faced in the institution. In all the programmes, students have an opportunity of making items and are accorded an opportunity of finding market and selling the items made. Through this approach, students learn entrepreneurship practically. Generally, apart from providing academic knowledge, the school equips students with practical skills that creates job opportunities for the youths. The aim of this approach is to pursue growth that transforms the livelihood of the people for economic transformation for improved livelihoods.

Programmes Offered

The school is currently offering the following programs:

  1. Bachelor of Hospitality Management and Tourism
  2. Bachelor of Design and Technology with Education (Secondary)
  3. Bachelor of Home Economics with Education (Secondary)
  4. Bachelor of Food Science and Nutrition

Minimum Entry Requirements

Five (5) O-Level credits or better; these must include English Language and Mathematics.

Course Duration

The course study shall be completed in a period of four (years). You can pursue the course under: Full-Time or Long Distance learning.
